You've found a job you would like to have. Now what? The interview process is the key to your success! Here are some vital tips to doing well in a job interview, regardless of the job you're pursuing.
Make sure you've researched the position:
* What are the skills/qualifications needed for the job?
* What will your duties and responsibilities be?
* What kind of training do you need to be able to do the job? Will the company train you?
* What is the typical salary for the job?
Make sure you know yourself!
* What are some of your personal accomplishments?
* What makes you unique?
* What are your strengths? Weaknesses?
SMART Interviewing
Some SMART things to do at the beginning of an interview:
* Arrive 15 minutes early.
* Be pleasant to every one you meet, including the receptionist.
* When you meet the interviewer, look the person in the eye and offer a handshake. Wait to sit down until the interviewer offers you a chair.
* Speak clearly and use correct grammar with no slang words.
Some SMART things to do at the end of an interview:
* Stand up, shake hands with the interviewer and thank him or her for taking the time to meet with you.
* Tell the interviewer that you are interested in the job.
* Know that you did your best and that many factors will play into the interviewers decision.
* Immediately get a handwritten thank-you note in the mail to the interviewer.
Some questions you might be asked in the interview:
*Tell me a little about yourself. (Talk about your qualities in regard to how they relate to the job, especially).
* Why should I hire you?
* What are your greatest strengths? Weaknesses?
* What motivates you?
* How would your friends describe you?
* Do you consider yourself a follower or a leader?
* What type of personality is the most difficult for you to work with?
* How do you manage stress?
* How well do you work under pressure?
* Why do you want this job?
